Housing services focus on supporting individuals in securing and maintaining appropriate living arrangements. This includes assistance with applying for housing programs such as Section 8, searching for apartments or rooms, and exploring suitable neighborhoods. Individuals are supported throughout the process, including completing applications, making deposits, reviewing and signing rental or lease agreements, and managing the transition to a new home, including packing, moving, and unpacking.
Meal services focus on developing the skills needed to plan, prepare, and manage nutritious meals. This includes understanding nutrition, creating menus, food preparation, and cooking, as well as proper clean-up. Individuals are also supported in learning safe food-handling practices, including shelf-life awareness and proper food storage.
Money management services focus on building the skills needed to manage personal finances with confidence and independence. This includes understanding currency, using tools such as calculators, and handling money accurately. Individuals are supported in identifying sources of income, estimating expenses, creating and maintaining a budget, and managing day-to-day spending. Additional areas of focus include basic banking skills, organizing important financial documents, and developing awareness to prevent fraud and financial exploitation.
Participation in natural environments focuses on developing the skills needed to navigate and engage confidently in everyday community settings. This includes using calendars and scheduling appointments, understanding and following street signs and public cues, and safely interacting within the environment. Individuals are also supported in building positive self-esteem, recognizing social cues, developing healthy relationships, and maintaining awareness of others and their surroundings.
Self-advocacy focuses on developing the skills needed to understand and communicate one’s needs, strengths, and goals. This includes identifying personal strengths and learning how to use them effectively, while also recognizing areas for growth and building those skills. Individuals are supported in developing problem-solving abilities, taking initiative, improving time management, and confidently expressing their preferences and needs, including requesting appropriate accommodations.
Emergency preparation services focus on building the skills needed to respond safely and effectively in unexpected situations. This includes assembling a 72-hour emergency kit, developing a personalized emergency plan with key contacts, and understanding how to respond to various emergency scenarios. Individuals are supported in building confidence and readiness to manage emergencies independently.
Wellness and health care services focus on supporting overall well-being and independence in managing personal health. This includes maintaining good hygiene, nutrition, and fitness, preventing disease, and understanding treatment needs. Individuals are supported in locating healthcare providers, scheduling and attending appointments, and effectively communicating with doctors, dentists, and other professionals. Additional areas of focus include obtaining and managing medications (with support as needed) and navigating medical insurance and related paperwork.
Shopping services focus on building independence in planning and completing everyday shopping tasks. This includes creating shopping lists, checking the home for items already on hand, identifying stores with the best pricing, and comparing costs. Individuals are supported throughout the entire shopping process, including managing a shopping cart, completing purchases (including self-checkout, if desired), transporting items, and properly storing them at home.
Housekeeping services focus on developing the skills needed to maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment. This includes both general and deep cleaning tasks, organizing personal spaces, changing bed linens, and completing laundry using household equipment. Individuals are supported in building routines and independence in managing their home environment.
Recreation and social involvement services focus on supporting participation in meaningful community activities. This includes identifying appropriate recreational opportunities based on the individual’s interests, lifestyle, and abilities. Emphasis is placed on promoting physical health, personal fitness, social engagement, and confidence in navigating community environments.
Transportation services provide instruction and support in using public transportation, paratransit, and other transit options safely and effectively. This includes guidance on route planning, transit use, and safety practices. When appropriate, individuals may also receive support in preparing for the written portion of the DMV driving test.
Companionship services provide supportive, relationship-based guidance as individuals work toward greater independence. Our trainers serve as trusted partners, offering encouragement, engagement, and social support throughout the journey, while fostering confidence, connection, and personal growth.
