This includes applying for section 8 housing, applying for apartments, rooms, touring neighborhoods, making housing/rent deposits, signing rental/lease agreements, packing, unpacking, etc.
This includes nutrition, menu planning, food preparation, cooking, clean-up shelf life and food storage.
This includes understanding currency, using a calculator, counting money, sources of income, estimating expenses, creating a budget, managing spending, banking, creating and maintaining a filing system for important documents, and how to avoid fraud and exploitation.
This includes using a calendar, scheduling appointments, reading and obeying street signs, etc. Training in developing positive self-esteem in participating in natural activities. Understanding social cues, being a good friend, and having awareness of others as well as the environment around them.
This includes learning to identify strengths and how to leverage those strengths to an advantage, while also being unaware of weaknesses that need increased development. Learning skills in solving problems; taking the initiative; increasing time management skills; speaking up for desires and accommodations.
This includes preparing an emergency 72-hour-kit, having an emergency crisis plan with emergency contacts and knowing what to do in the case of any type of emergency.
This includes good hygiene, nutrition, fitness, disease prevention, and treatment. Finding health care providers, scheduling and attending appointments,
and communicating with doctors, dentists, and other healthcare providers. Obtaining medications, support in medication distribution if needed, and medical insurance paperwork.
Shopping includes making a shopping list, checking the pantry for items already owned, finding the market with the best pricing, price comparisons, managing the shopping cart, checking out, including self-check if desired, loading, putting away, etc.
This includes all general and deep cleaning, organizing, changing of bed linens and laundry including use of equipment.
This includes appropriate recreational activities for the individual's lifestyle and abilities, contributing to physical conditioning and personal fitness, as it applies to participation in the community.
This includes instructions for using public transportation, paratransit, and other forms of transit along with safety instructions for their use. Training for taking the written portion of the DMV driving test is also available as appropriate.
